Karachi City (
Urdu:
کراچی شہر ریلوے اسٹیشن ) (formerly McLeod station) is the first and the oldest
railway station in
Pakistan. It is commonly called "City station" or "City railway station" in Karachi. It is situated near
Habib Bank Plaza on
I. I. Chundrigar Road in
Karachi,
Sindh,
Pakistan.

History
It was around 1855 when the commissioner of Sindh
Bartle Frere suggested to the government to construct a railway line between Harbour of Karachi and Korti. Eventually after several surveys, in January 1859, railway line from the
Port of Karachi started to construct and later on May 3, 1864, public traffic between Karachi and
Kotri started from Mcleoad Station (now Karachi City Station).
